The thing that makes literature, literature

World Literature:

This semester I really enjoyed learning about World Literature. I liked learning about all kinds of different things from learning about other people across the world to how to use satire. Baraaka, the video we watched showed me how people live and worship their religions. Satire was probably my favorite subject that we learned this semester. One day when we had to pick a video to share to the class really just maybe it more enjoyable then just lecturing and taking notes all class period. We get so caught up in making fun of people that their not just making fun of people but the society as well. After reading the Lord of the Flies this past month I really could understand it better because of how detailed you got and took the imagery to the next level. I would have never look at a quote or a sentence so deeply. After reading that, I learned that there is more then just a sentence and digging deeper.

Campbell:

"... We have only to follow the thread of the hero path, and where we had thought to find an abomination, we shall slay ourselves. Where we thought to travel outward, we will come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone, we will be with all the world"( Campbell, 123).
Campbell is saying that we should find and follow a hero's path in which there will be a maze in your life and you need to find yourself. We think that we need to kill people but really we are killing ourselves. When we are alone the world is by our side.

Swift:

" It is a melancholy object to those who walk through this great town or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads, and cabin doors, crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags"(Swift,1)...
Jobs are stressful. Its hard when you have a children, no job, can't take care of them, and have a good and healthy environment for the children.  There more beggars especially for women because its harder for them to get a job.

Golding:

"...This is so deeply woven into the way we live, or at least the way we live at home in England, that I don't suppose one really questions it much"(Golding, 210)...
This book relates to so much of our daily lives. Golding is saying that we go into war for little tiny things that don't matter. We get so caught up in being superior to everyone else. It will always be this way. People not agreeing to one another.

Culture to me...

To me, culture is a group on people who gather together and worship their beliefs. People show different ways of how they define themselves to what they eat, music, and arts. Not just learning about their own culture people are fascinated about learning what other cultures are all about.

The place I live in, the United States is everything to me. It shows every different kind of culture that shows how people worship their beliefs. The lifestyles that each culture live in are very unique and its very interesting  on how people act. The United States is crowded around many different cultures and religions that everyone feels welcome and inviting.

Colorado is a very important part of my life. The thing I like most about Colorado is the mountains because that's where I spend most of my time in.  In the winter I go skiing, in the summer I go hiking and camping. The mountains( Rocky Mountains) represent Colorado that is full of nature and beautiful mountain ranges.

Superior is my home. Its small and we are a community that works together and makes decision as a team. Superior is beautiful and welcoming to anyone. I feel safe and comfortable around this town. I will definitely want to live in a place like Superior when I get a house.

My family and I are very close. We do everything together and love spending time together. We worship a lot and I think that's what makes us so close. I realize how wonderful its is to have such a great family and it puts joy into my life. As a family we do all sorts of fun activities like playing board games to watching movies. I love my family and I hope that we stay as close as we are today in the future. My family is really important to me and they will always be with me even if we are miles apart.

There are so many different kind of cultures in school. How I tell that there is, is because the way students dress or speak different languages. I think that it is really important for students to notice that they are not different they just their exterior is different but their interior is still the same. School is a community and every culture is a part of it.

My friends and I really have culture in our friendships. We all are very religious and we believe that religion is very important in life. My friends are like family to me. Yes, we fight sometimes but we fight like we are brothers and sisters and that's what true friends are. I always have so much fun with them. We go to concerts, and festivals that really just bring us closer every single day.

10 Things That Make A Good Hero

I chose this picture to represent bravery as one of a hero quality. The ability to have bravery is to be the bigger person in a bad situation or standing up for someone that is being harassed or bullied. Now, in others cases like firefighters, military, or sick people in the hospital have different bravery situations. Firefighters can be brave by setting out fires or the military for fighting for our country.

The most important quality that I think completes a hero is strength.    It takes a lot of courage to jump to the next stage in life and achieving goals that are very difficult to do. Hero's like my dad are very brave and always go through struggles to accomplish their life long goals. He is my hero!
Integrity. You can tell the difference between a fake hero and a real one. A hero that make the smart choices even when someone is not watching. A hero where  its the actions that speak the truth not the words that they say.

By being a good hero there comes selflessness. Hero's can't be selfish, they have to put other people before them and put themselves last. Caring for strangers as if they were your family members and doing the right thing is unselfish. They worry about whats going on around them and not worrying about themselves.

Hero's need dedication and be committed to their futures ahead of them. For some people who have a special hero, they want hero's that are dedicated in what they do best. In this picture a lifeguard is saving someone. They are dedicated to their work for the purpose of not letting anyone drown.

This picture represents loyalty because no matter what the problem is, hero's always stand by you even if you did something wrong or being kicked around by others. The true hero's will actually have faith in you. When a hero is loyal to you he/she is trying to be a friend that cares about people's actions towards you.
Sacrifice is also a large part of being a hero. I think this because they would rather have themselves die and take the pain then watch people suffer. If they really wanted to they wouldn't sacrifice their lives for ones they care about, but they like to because they enjoy making people happy. In the Vietnam War people sacrificed their lives to save America and those hero's impacted so much in our country.
You can't have a hero who is not smart. They would make dumb decisions that know one would think he/she would be even close to being a hero. Intelligence is very important because if you need advise from them you will learn new things. You will learn bad habits if they are not smart.
This picture represents being focused. You have to stay focused on the things you want to take to the next level and achieve. Set your mind on something that you love. Don't get side tracked to things that don't matter instead concentrate on the important things in life.

I chose this picture as my last picture because a lot of young fans say that their hero is Justin Bieber. Justin has had a hard life growing up with divorced parents. He had taken a really big step in his singing career. He has came a long way from Canada when he was about 15 years old. People think he is very strong, unselfish, positive, and brave singing in front of all those people.

About Me

This picture represents me because I was born in San Jose, California. I lived in California for about 2 years and love it there. I have family that means so much to me and I always come and visit them. San Jose will always be a special place in my heart!
