Gregor's father only cares about Gregor when he is wealthy and can pay the bills for his family. "His father clenched his fist with a hostile expression, as if he wished to push Gregor back into the room, then looked uncertainly around the living room, covered his eyes with his hands, and cried so that his mighty breast shook"(Kafka 6). Gregor's father is very violent towards Gregor because he is disappointed that no one can pay the bills. Gregor had very little freedom when he was working all the time. "But when he finally was successful in getting hi head in front of the door opening, it became clear that his body was too wide to go through any further"(Kafka 9). This shows a lack of freedom that gregor gets. Hes stuck in his room and can't get out. The only person who had enough bravery to help Gregor was his sister Grete. "But also because the milk, which otherwise was his favorite drink and which his sister had certainly placed there for that reason, did not appeal to him at all"(Kafka 9). Grete is the one taking care of Gregor, giving him foos so he doesn't starve, and reorganizing his room is that he is able to move around his room.
