Reflective on Siddhartha, Chapter 10
The son of Kamala and Siddhartha was born. Siddhartha tries to figure out his son's pain from the passing of Kamala. Siddhartha's son felt hopeless without his mother being there beside him. "Slowly, too, he began to realize that this eleven-year-old was spoiled, a mama's boy; he had been raised among all the amenities of wealth and was used to fine meals, a soft bed, and giving orders to servants"(Heffe 100). Young Siddhartha loved his mom dearly and was heart broken to see her gone. Siddhartha's son eventually has enough with his father and runs away to live on his own. Siddhartha freaks out that his son had disappeared but "Nonetheless, he continued to run without stopping, no longer because he wished to rescue the boy but merely out of desire, in the hope of perhaps seeing him ounce more. And he ran all the way to the outskirts of the city"(Heffe 105). Siddhartha then realizes that he needs to let his son go like what Siddhartha's father had done to him years ago. Siddhartha learns that he needs to let his son go sometime even though he feels hurt about it.
